In order to conduct my audience research I sent many emails to research companies asking about their methods of research, Many of them being very helpful and answering all the questions I needed, however some refused to comment, arguing they could not disclose such information.
From what I had found out next to surveys, focus groups was a method used by many to collect data. A focus group is a group of people shown a clip and asked to respond to what they saw. As it was the closest to my own work, I chose to show my focus group a clip from Baby Beauty Queens and asked them what their initial response to this clip was, and found many felt the same as what I was trying to portray in my documentary. However some disagreed completely and said that it was the parents choice as to how they raised their children.
